Description

Castrol Tribol GR 4747/220-2 HT (formerly marketed as Castrol Tribol 4747/220-2) is a high-temperature grease for rolling and plain bearings, featuring Castrol's advanced PD (Plastic Deformation) technology. It is specifically developed for high operating temperatures, heavy mechanical loads, and extended service life.

Compared with conventional greases, Tribol GR 4747/220-2 HT offers significantly higher load-carrying capacity and superior wear protection. These outstanding properties are achieved through Castrol's proprietary PD technology.

The grease is formulated with high-quality synthetic base oils (PAO and esters), a lithium complex thickener, and a carefully balanced additive package containing corrosion inhibitors, oxidation inhibitors, and advanced PD additives.

Under high contact pressures and elevated temperatures, the PD additives chemically and physically smooth microscopic surface asperities without causing abrasive wear. This process resembles a microscopic rolling effect, gradually flattening surface peaks and increasing the effective load-bearing area.

As a result, friction is reduced, bearing load capacity is improved, and component service life is extended. During the running-in period, the PD additives create an optimally smooth bearing surface without the excessive wear typically associated with new components. If new surface irregularities develop during operation due to shock loading or frequent start-stop cycles, the PD additives are automatically reactivated to restore the surface condition.

Application Instructions

Do not mix Castrol Tribol GR 4747/220-2 HT with greases based on different thickener systems.

After converting to Tribol GR 4747/220-2 HT, relubrication intervals should be extended gradually to ensure that residues of the previously used lubricant are completely removed and the full benefits of the PD additive technology are achieved.

Residual greases containing solid lubricants may reduce the effectiveness of the PD additives.

When operating at peak temperatures of up to +180 °C, relubrication intervals should be carefully adjusted according to operating conditions.
